ABOUT

My name is Audra Coulson and I am a technical artist who's dedicated to sharing meaningful stories and creating uplifting art! When I first entered the field of animation, I expected my career to take me to Visual Development and Character Design. To my surprise, I was also attracted by scripting languages and computer graphics. My combined love for traditional and technical art led to me becoming a surfacing and grooming artist.  My goal is to become a Technical Director and act as a bridge between design and shading departments.

I have received talent-based scholarships every year I have been in the animation program.  As a junior, I was brought on to help the senior class complete character effects for their film Cenote-which went on to win a Student Academy Award. Last year, I was the first of five students chosen from the entire population of BYU’s animation program to be recognized for our noteworthy hard work and academic success within the program. My senior year I supported my class in our Rookie-nominated student film, Witch's Cat. Most recently, I was given the opportunity to serve as a CFX intern for DreamWorks animation studio, working on Kung Fu Panda 4.

My personal hobbies include scuba-diving, and snowboarding with my friends in the animation program. I also enjoy listening to live music, and gesture drawing at the weekly farmer’s market. I am a member of Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society, and Women in Animation.I hope we can connect soon!
